Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty trying to run away with Heisman – and records

If Ashton Jeanty keeps up his current pace much longer, Boise State’s star running back can start turning his focus to bigger historical achievements because the Heisman Trophy may already be in the bag.

After amassing more than 200 rushing yards for the third time in six games this season, Jeanty’s Heisman Trophy odds at DraftKings shortened from +225 to +160. It helped that Colorado lost, contributing to two-way star Travis Hunter seeing his odds dip from +300 to +1200.

But it was much more about Jeanty, who leads the nation with 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns on just 126 carries — a 9.9-yard average. Still in sight is Barry Sanders’ 1988 records of 2,628 yards and 37 rushing touchdowns for Oklahoma State.

Jeanty has 1,380 yards and 20 touchdowns to go to catch Sanders, with Boise State still having six regular-season and very likely at least one bowl or playoff game to go.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who opened the season as the Heisman favorite, is back to owning the second-shortest odds at +400 after the Ducks knocked off No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday. His +1100 positive odds delta was the second-biggest move this week behind LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier moving from +4500 to +3000 after orchestrating an overtime win against Ole Miss.

Going in the opposite direction was Southern Cal quarterback Miller Moss, who plummeted from +4000 to +15000 following the Trojans’ third loss of the season.
